State reps to speak at CWU civics events next week

Central Washington University’s Center for Leadership and Community Engagement is hosting a week of free events with forums, debates and speeches as part of its annual College Civics Week Monday through Thursday.

Washington state Reps. Melanie Stambaugh and Hans Zeiger will be keynote speakers for the week’s events, which this year revolve around the theme of bipartisanship.

Stambaugh will speak at noon Tuesday in the Student Union and Recreation Center Pit. Stambaugh a Republican from the Puyallup-area 25th District, is the youngest women to be elected to the state House, taking office in January at 24 years old.
