Soccer Preseason Underway for 2016

  • August 25, 2016

The Central Washington University soccer team officially opened the 2016 campaign early this week.

The Wildcats welcomed 10 new faces into the mix for the year, while 20 players will don Crimson again this season for Central Washington.

"We had some rough spots to start in our fitness tests," CWU Head Coach Michael Farrand said. "But when we came back in the evening girls fought and battled, they helped each other out. They fought through it together. We spent a week talking about our culture and what it means to play for Central. I think it unified us more than anything so far."

The Wildcats were picked fourth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches poll.

"It's a realistic expectation for us," Farrand added. "But I think we can be better. With our leadership and our group of girls, they can come together and with the mentality they have we will challenge ourselves for the rest of the year."

The Wildcats open play officially on Sept. 1 in San Francisco against San Francisco State University.
