Six-Week Quarter at CWU Can Help Current, Prospective Students

It's not too late to enroll in classes at CWU this spring. Beginning May 4, the university will be offering a six-week quarter to help current and prospective students earn credit toward their degrees.

Six online-only courses - Humanities 102, Philosophy 104, Religious Studies 101, Physics 101, Information Technology 165 and Information Technology 202 - will be offered for full credit and will run through June 12.

Each course will be led by an experienced CWU faculty member and will be offered for academic credit. Each four- and five-credit class will be reflected on official CWU transcripts, with full academic qualifications.

Online registration for the six-week quarter is now available through CWU Continuing Education (CE). The tuition deadline is May 6.

"The main benefit is that prospective students who missed the traditional start deadline for spring quarter still have an opportunity to take classes," said Melanie Palm, the regional director for CWU-Yakima. "But we also wanted to reach out to students who may not normally have come to us."

Another target group for the six-week quarter are students who have previously attended CWU but haven't completed their degrees. Program organizers hope the six-week quarter will help the university expand its reach as online instruction continues to become more prevalent in higher education.

"We have never offered anything like this, and we believe this program will really benefit CWU," Palm said.
