Tickets are on sale for the inaugural Central Washington University Brooks Library gala and silent auction, titled “An Evening at the Brooks,” which will be held from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., Saturday, April 12, in the Brooks Library on the Ellensburg campus.

In recognition of National Library Week, the gala will feature entertainment by local jazz musician Lenny Price and CWU student music ensembles. There will be readings by professors Mark Auslander, anthropology and museum studies; Daniel Herman, history; Joseph Powell and Katharine Whitcomb, English; and Karen Zacharias, communication. In addition, there will be dancing to the music of the Ellensburg Big Band, along with sweets and savories to enjoy. Evening or business casual attire is recommended for those planning to attend.

Advance tickets are available at the Student Union and Recreation Center Ticket Office and online. They are $10 for university students, $20 per person, and $35 for couples. At the door, tickets will be $25 per person and $40 per couple.

Proceeds from the event will help fund acquisition of materials in support of academic research and educational needs of CWU students, faculty, Ellensburg community members, and the Friends of the Brooks Library Endowment fund.

The gala is being held in collaboration with the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce.
