Samuelson Demolition Uncovers Student Signatures

Demolition began on part of the Samuelson building in the middle of the Central Washington University campus Wednesday.

The former CWU student union building has been closed since 2005. It will be replaced with a new and remodeled building which will house mathematics, information technology and administrative management, computer science and the office of multimodal learning.

As the demolition got underway at Samuelson, crews found bricks covered in student signatures dating back to 1938.

The bricks were saved, as will some other historic parts of the structure.
