Red Curtain Broadway Revue Brings Broadway to the ‘Burg
- November 20, 2018
A perennial favorite, the Red Curtain Broadway Revue, brings an evening of entertainment to Ellensburg as part of the gala Holiday Weekend for the Arts taking place November 29-December 2.
Central Washington University’s Central Theatre Ensemble will perform top-notch singing, dancing, and choreography from some of Broadway’s best shows with many of the numbers choreographed and directed by students.
This year’s theme, selected by the cast and crew, is “The Lovers, the Dreamers, and Me,” a phrase from the song “The Rainbow Connection” so memorably sung by Kermit the Frog.
“This song is not only beautiful and inspirational but also fitting for a group of aspiring actors chasing our dreams together, and a perfect theme for us to all hold on to as we create art through the revue,” said Aubrey Schultz, lead choreographer and assistant director the production. “The show is about us. And our experiences having a dream and making it come true. [The show] will include songs of triumph, of feeling discouraged, and what it means to have a dream along with everything that comes with that.”
In addition to “The Rainbow Connection,” audiences will enjoy selections from The Greatest Showman, Frozen, Waitress, Hercules, Michael Jackson, High School Musical 3, and many others.
The Red Curtain Broadway Revue will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on November 29, 30, and December 1, with a matinee performance at 2:00 p.m. on December 2. All shows will be performed in McConnell Auditorium.
