One of the Creators of CWU Day of the Dead Display Chronicled in Everett Herald

  • November 3, 2017

CWU is hosting a Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) commemoration tonight (Friday, November 3) in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC).

The holiday, which is celebrated throughout Mexico and by those of LatinX heritage worldwide, involves family and friends who gather to pray for and remember loved ones who have died, as a way to support their spiritual journey.

The CWU event features a specially designed sand tapestry and altar that is on display in the SURC Pit. Everett Herald reporter Julie Muhlstein wrote a recent article on Julieta Altamirano-Crosby, who was one of the creators of the CWU Día de Muertos artwork.
