New student trustee begins yearlong appointment on CWU board

“Robert brings an important student voice to the governing body of the university,” Gov. Jay Inslee said. “I appreciate his willingness to serve CWU students and the people of Washington.”

Moser said his involvement in student government is what led him to apply for the Board of Trustees position.

“We have opinions and, more importantly, we know what we want our education to consist of,” Moser said. “I wanted to be a trustee because it will afford me to the opportunity to help create sound policies that bring Central through its next steps in the future.”

He says the appointment will give him valuable experience.

“It is an experience that wherever I go post Central will have a lasting effect on my career,” Moser said.

At CWU Moser has served on the Student Academic Senate, the Board of Academic Appeals and Academic Standing Council, the Student Conduct Council, and was vice chair of the Services and Activities Fee Committee. He also is a member of the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society.

All of the state‘s six public baccalaureate institutions have a student seat on their governing bodies. The student trustees serve one-year terms and are full voting members on all issues except matters relating to hiring or discipline of personnel, tenure of faculty, and collective bargaining agreements.

Moser’s term is from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015.
