Editor and Essayist to Visit Central Washington University

Dasgupta will read from her work at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center Ballroom. Earlier in the day, she will give a craft talk titled “Essays, Everyday Ordinariness and the Evil Eye” at noon in Black Hall room 151.

Both events are free and open to the public. Her books will be available for sale courtesy of the CWU Wildcat Shop following the 7:30 p.m. event.

Dasgupta is author of Fire Girl, nominated for the Foreword INDIES Book of the Year, as well as The House of Nails, a chapbook about her childhood in New Delhi.

She received her MFA from the University of Idaho, where she now teaches creative nonfiction and global literatures. Her research includes creative nonfiction, literary fiction, South Asian history, literature, Indian cinema, and world religions.

Dasgupta has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and received Dukool magazine’s 2016 prize for creative nonfiction, as well as a Centrum Fellowship. Her work has appeared in Gulf Stream, Phoebe Magazine, Blood Orange Review, and others. She is also the nonfiction editor for Crab Creek Review, a Seattle-based print journal.
