Eclectic Fall Choir Concert to Be Held November 17

  • November 14, 2017

The Central Washington University Choirs are presenting a rich variety of song for their fall choral concert. Ensembles include the University Chorale, the Wildcat Chorus (formerly Men's Choir), the select Vox Divina (formerly Women's Choir), and the select Chamber Choir.

“We believe that in offering a variety of music--something for everyone," said Gary Weidenaar, professor of music and director of choral studies. “For example, the Vox Divina repertoire includes beautiful setting of “There Is no Rose” for voices, piano, and oboe [Vanessa Bliley, oboist]; a Baroque setting of the Magnificat text for strings and voices; and “62 Insults in the Style of Shakespeare”--definitely from the sublime to the silly!”

The program also includes a 14th-century carol, “Brothers, Sing On!” by Edvard Grieg, and traditional sacred and secular works.

The Fall Choir Concert will be held at 7:00 p.m. on November 17, in the McIntyre Music Building Concert Hall. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $7 for seniors/children and students with ID. Tickets may be purchased at the door or at http://www.cwu.edu/music/event-tickets. Parking in CWU lots is free after 4:30 p.m. except in designated spaces or in residence hall lots.
