Central Washington University will host its third annual 24-hour day of giving campaign, #GiveCentral, on April 25 and 26 from noon to noon.

This year, the #GiveCentral campaign focuses on three critical student success initiatives, all of which focus on providing students the additional support they need to stay in school.

Because food insecurity is a prevalent issue on college and university campuses, #GiveCentral is raising funds this year for the Presidents United to Solve Hunger (PUSH) initiative to provide vital resources to CWU students in need.

The second area of focus is the Student Emergency Fund which helps care for students in crisis. This includes things like traveling home for a funeral, purchasing medication, or tending to a family emergency. For a student already working hard to pay for his or her education, unexpected financial hardships can mean the difference between whether or not the student is able to stay in school.

The third area of focus is Retention Scholarships. These grants help remove barriers to graduation, such as an unexpected financial loss or a gap in receiving financial aid, and enable deserving students to complete their degrees.

“When you support #GiveCentral, you are investing in the critical needs of current and future students at CWU,” said Scott Wade, CWU vice president of University Advancement and executive director of the CWU Foundation. “Our day of giving encourages a culture of philanthropy to support the Wildcat family and advance our university. Let's come together to support #GiveCentral and be the difference that allows a CWU student to continue to be transformed by the Central Experience.”
