CWU's Erion Comments on Teacher Shortage in Yakima Valley

"Retirements for whatever reason are higher than in the past,” said Central Washington University’s associate dean for education, Virginia Erion. “Larger districts are having higher shortages and it will be difficult to refill them.”

But Erion hears other explanations that add up to a sobering fact: For many, the profession has lost much of its luster.
