CWU Wine Studies will screen "Somm" on Thursday, February 23, at 6 p.m. in the SURC Theatre.

The CWU Wine Studies program will be screening the popular documentary film, SOMM, on Thursday, February 23, at 6 p.m. in the SURC Theatre.

The 2012 American documentary follows the efforts of four candidates to pass the Master Sommelier exam, a test with one of the lowest passing rates in the world. Here's a brief description:

Four men will do anything to pass the most difficult test you've never heard of. The Court of Master Sommeliers is one of the world's most exclusive organizations with an exam that covers every nuance of the world of wine, spirits and cigars. How much do you think you know about wine? SOMM will make you think again.

The film, directed by Jason Wise, was named best documentary feature at the 2013 San Luis Obispo Film Festival. A sequel, Somm: Into the Bottle, was released in 2015 and a third film, Somm 3, came out in 2018.
