Brandon Riddle, a junior at Central Washington University, wants to be a school psychologist. He's part of a group of fellow future psychologists helping Valley View Elementary School kindergartners learn to read.

The program is called Wildcat Buddies. Central psychology majors gain a better understanding of how to help children with reading and writing skills, Riddle said, and teachers have seen an increase in student achievement.

"We met with teachers about a month and a half ago. They have seen progress in the students," Riddle said. "We're testing them, too, and we've seen progress as well."
