  • January 17, 2017

Brittney Skibeness was crowned 2017 Ellensburg Rodeo Queen on Saturday in front of a crowd of friends, family and rodeo supporters.

She will be on this year’s Ellensburg Rodeo royal court, along with princesses Jade Cotterill and Megan Ray. All three gave presentations and answered questions during the annual coronation banquet at the Central Washington University Student Union and Recreation Center Ballroom in front of a crowd of about 300. Local attorney Jim Denison served as emcee.

The queen and princesses represent the rodeo and Ellensburg at events locally and around the state.

Skibeness is a 2016 graduate of Ellensburg High School and is attending Central Washington University with plans to be a radiologic technician. She has carried sponsor flags at the rodeo for the past two years, and volunteers at the Spirit Therapeutic Riding Center. She started riding at a young age and just finished her 10th and final year in the Royal Riders 4-H Club.
