CWU State of the University on October 16

Robert Nellams, Director of the Seattle Center and Vice Chair of the Central Washington University Board of Trustees will join CWU President James L. Gaudino at this year's State of the University address on Wednesday, October 16, in the McConnell Auditorium on the CWU campus.

The State of the University presentation will begin at 3:30 p.m. with an address by Gaudino, followed by Nellams' remarks.

In his speech, President Gaudino will discuss institutional goal setting, the transformation of the university to better serve its students, and the university's ongoing commitment to inclusivity and diversity.

Robert Nellams has been the Director of the Seattle Center since 2006. He also currently serves as Vice Chair of the CWU Board of Trustees.

A CWU accounting alumni, Nellams previously worked for more than a decade as the center's deputy director and as director of patron services. He started working for the city of Seattle in 1982 as an accountant. Previously the Chair of the CWU Foundation Board, he has brought that expertise to the BOT governing board as a member of its finance committee.

For many years, Nellams has been an active member of the Breakfast Group, a Seattle-based non-profit service organization devoted to mentoring African-American and other low-income and at-risk young men of color. He currently serves on the group's board of directors as chair of the fundraising committee.

His six-year term on the CWU BOT will continue through September 2021.
