Central Washington University is proud to announce that it has hired Dr. Faiza Khoja as its new dean of the College of Business following a rigorous selection process. Khoja, who will replace Dr. Jeffrey Stinson this fall, said she was compelled to apply for the position because of CWU's ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and hands-on learning.
"I was inspired by CWU's vision and mission to build communities of equity and belonging, and its commitment to educate responsible citizens who are ready for high demand careers," she said. "Those ultimately led to my decision to come to Ellensburg."
In her 20 years of experience in academic, professional, and administrative roles, Khoja has championed experiential learning and career readiness-two key pillars in the CWU College of Business' nationally recognized approach to preparing students for success.
Khoja previously served as CEO of a nonprofit school for special needs students, chair of the board of directors of the Nizari Progressive Federal Credit Union, and Dean of the College of Business Administration at Texas A&M University-Central Texas. She also has experience in the world of business and administration.
Khoja has taught at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and she has published her research on social networks, strategic supply chain management, developmental economics, sustainability, and more in a variety of industry journals. She plans to leverage her broad fundraising experience for an international foundation to continue building success in the College of Business.
"My goal is to listen and learn from internal and external stakeholders, aligning the college strategic plan with that of the University, and prioritizing strategic initiatives for the college," Khoja said. "In five years, I hope we can be the preeminent college of business in diversity and equity, partnering closely with the industry and community to address and develop the economic, environmental, and social facets of the region."
