CWU Lecturer Weighs In On Results Of National Holiday Shopping Survey

A CWU faculty member's comments about consumer spending are featured in a Wallethub.com article about the holiday shopping season. Andrew Waldum, a senior lecturer in the department of finance and supply chain management, was one of five experts interviewed for the 2019 Holiday Shopping Survey, published on November 13.
Waldum responded to three questions related to credit card debt, holiday spending, and Black Friday deals. When asked about the number of Americans - 35 million - who are carrying over credit card debt from last holiday season, Waldum said: "There is a lot of pressure around the holiday season to make purchases even when there is no cash to pay the bill."
The national survey of more than 1,000 respondents was conducted from October 14-18, 2019.
