Central Washington University will offer multiple activities to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. on Wednesday and Thursday, including a celebration, candlelight vigil, peace march on campus and documentary screenings, to name a few.

The celebration begins with the "Make a Difference" events for schoolchildren Wednesday and Thursday in the Student Union and Recreation Center Ballroom.

Students from Mount Stuart and Kittitas elementary schools will learn about Martin Luther King Jr. by writing about leadership, role playing various civil rights situations and making signs that the students will take back to their schools and spread King’s message of peace.

Planned activities continue with screenings of the documentary “Freedom Ride” Wednesday and King’s iconic “I Have a Dream” speech Thursday. The films will run continuously all day in the SURC Pit, and displays about King’s life will be set up.
