- May 21, 2018

More than 300 musicians, performing in seven different ensembles, will take the stage at Benaroya Hall for an unforgettable evening of musical brilliance on Thursday, May 24.
Central Washington Universityâs renowned Department of Music will fill the hall with concerts from Jazz Band 1, Vocal Jazz 1, Chamber Choir, Wind Ensemble, and the Symphony Orchestra with the Central Singers and University Chorale.
âThis concert is a showcase for our studentsâ prodigious talents,â said Nikolas Caoile, acting chair of CWUâs Department of Music, and director of Orchestras. âNearly three-quarters of our students will be performing here in some capacity. I believe this concert will amply illustrate why we are one of the top music institutions in the United States.â
The concert will be held at 6:30 p.m. on May 24. Tickets are $25-$45 and may be purchased online at https://bit.ly/2rNSeOj. Advance ticket purchase is advised, as this concert is very popular. Benaroya Hall is located at 200 University Street in Seattle.
The eclectic and diverse musical program holds something for everyone, from innovative jazz works to Brahmsâs A German Requiem, Op. 45.
âOur studentsâand facultyâare encouraged to perform music from many different styles and time periods, to develop their musicianship,â Caoile continued. âI think the audience will find the range of musical styles in this program scintillating and exhilarating.â
CWUâs Department of Music is not only one of the largest departments at the university but also in the Pacific Northwest and its students regularly perform worldwide. The Chamber Choir sang at the magnificent Santa MarÃa de León Cathedral, also called The House of Light, in León, Spain. Jazz Band 1 performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival, and most recently the orchestra played at the Capital Orchestra Festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.
