Central Washington University Dining Services continues to attract attention from around the food services industry.

Food Management, a national publication that features trends and best practices in the noncommercial food industry, published a news feature this week about a live online cooking demo that CWU Dining Services helped coordinate in mid-October.

Campus Executive Chef Joe Ritchie and student Daniela Mendez Padilla teamed up for the one-hour cooking demo, preparing a traditional Chilean dish called charquican. Padilla, whose family is from Chile, said she had eaten the hearty stew before, but she had never prepared it before the October 16 event at the SURC.

"I associate happiness with this, and I hope others can learn to do this and enjoy it, too," she said to the audience.

CWU Dining Services was also featured by Food Management in May when it introduced the Fresh Bar concept.
