Dear CWU Family,

As you know, we all are adapting each day to new imperatives designed to slow the spread of COVID-19. CWU already has cancelled all in-person classes and labs; dining services are only providing food-to-go. In-person, university-sponsored events, including Commencement ceremonies and associated activities are cancelled. All buildings on the Ellensburg campus are now officially closed to the public.

Last night, the Kittitas County Public Health Department issued an official Public Health Order directing CWU to strongly encourage students, "whether they live on or off campus, to stay in place. If students have returned to their permanent residence, they should remain there" while attending spring quarter virtually. It is vital that everyone respect this Public Health Order and help contain the virus that is spreading so quickly everywhere.

Students, per the county Public Health Director's warning, should remain where they are and attend spring quarter virtually:

  • If you are in Ellensburg, you are expected to stay in place.
  • If you are currently away from the CWU Ellensburg campus, you are expected to stay in place.

Students currently living on campus have already been sent notification of residence-specific information.

Faculty and staff, please continue to work remotely and practice social distancing.

For all CWU-related COVID-19 information visit: cwu.edu/COVID-19.

We appreciate your patience during this unprecedented circumstance. We understand this information is difficult for many of you to hear, but we hope you understand that these measures are in the interest of prioritizing the health and safety of our community.

Thank you!
