Central Washington University's New Student Convocation 2014 is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, in Nicholson Pavilion

Convocation is a rite of passage for new CWU students, and this year they will be welcomed by Dean of Student Success, Sarah L. Swager. Provost and Vice-President for Academic and Student Life, Marilyn A. Levine, will also extend a warm welcome. Yosef Gamble, president of the Associated Students will lead the CWU Pride Pledge.

This year's keynote speaker is James Avey, an associate professor in the Department
of Management. Avey is a Washington native who received his doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2007. Avey is known for his meaningful impact on the lives of CWU students, challenging them academically and encouraging them to cease all opportunities to transform the world they live in. He is a four-time recipient of the College of Business Excellence in Faculty Research Award.
