- May 29, 2019
Itâs the second All-American recognition for the Selah graduate.
Fellow Wildcat HarLee Ortega was second team with an 11th-place finish.Maierâs consistency was key Friday, finishing in the top 10 for all of the events on the second day of the event.
âHe didnât do anything amazing as far as marks in each event are concerned, but every event was solid,â CWU head coach Kevin Adkisson said in a release.â That consistency helped him move up throughout the competition. Itâs great for him to come out of his sophomore year with two All-American finishes already.â
Maier was fifth in the 1,500 meters (4 minutes, 40.63 seconds), sixth in the pole vault (14 feet, 5.25 inches), seventh in the discus (119-11) and eighth in the javelin (47.27 meters).
CWUâs Mariyah Vongsaveng was second in her heat and sixth overall in the prelims for the 100-meter hurdle with a time of 13.97.
