Central student cycled to Washington, D.C., for a cause

  • August 12, 2015

When Pacific Northwest college students visit Washington, D.C., they usually fly, but Central Washington University student David Higgins arrived last week by bicycle.

Higgins, 21, biked from the farthest point northwest in the lower 48 states to Washington, D.C., to raise awareness of childhood sexual abuse. He visited children’s advocacy centers along his way. He began his cross-country journey June 21 and arrived in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 7.

His last children’s advocacy stop is this Wednesday. On Thursday, he will give personal testimony to congressional staffers. And on Friday, he will fly back to Washington state and will be getting ready to start back up at Central Washington University, where he studies business.
