Catching up with National Teacher of the Year Jeff Charbonneau

It’s been more than two years since Zillah High School science teacher (and CWU alumnus) Jeff Charbonneau was announced as National Teacher of the Year on April 22, 2013. Since then, he accumulated more than 60 job offers; he was even named a top 50 finalist last December for the Global Teacher Prize. Although some of those jobs would have paid three times his current salary, Charbonneau turned them down.

“Money is not the most important thing,” he says. “I love teaching.”
