Central Washington University Provost Katherine Frank today named Bonnie MacEwan, retired Dean of Libraries at Auburn University, as CWU’s Interim Dean of Library Services. MacEwan will begin her duties on August 8, 2018.
MacEwan replaces Gregory J. Paveza, who had served as interim dean since July 1, 2017.
“We’re pleased to have someone with Bonnie’s impressive credentials and record of success helping to guide our library as we go through the process of hiring a permanent dean,” Frank said.
MacEwan served as Dean of Libraries at Auburn for 12 years before retiring earlier this year. During that time, she was responsible for greatly expanding the university’s electronic library resources to support active learning and distance instruction capabilities. Prior to that, she was Assistant Dean of Collections at Penn State University for a decade.
MacEwan was selected from candidates put forward by the Registry, a national organization with more than 500 experienced, retired higher education executives who are available on an interim basis to assist colleges and universities.
MacEwan holds an MA in Librarianship from the University of Denver and a BA in English from Whittier College.
She has served as a member of the Association of Research Libraries Board and as the Member-At-Large of the Association of Southeast Research Libraries. She previously was President of both the Association of Southeast Research Libraries (SERL) and the Network of Alabama Academic Libraries.
