An array of art forms will be presented from painting to installation, and mixed media. The invited artists include Sijae Byun, Eric Chan, Eunsun Choi, Yoonhee Choi, Bella Kim, Hyun Jung Jung, Hyunjeong Lim, and Jueun Shin.
The opening events will be held on Thursday, November 5, beginning with an artist panel discussion from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Randall Hall, room 117. The panel will be moderated by CWU art historian Dr. Hye-ri Oh. A reception will be held in the Sarah Spurgeon Gallery (Randall Hall, room 141) directly following the talk, from 5:30-7 p.m.
According to Dr. Oh, the exhibit explores how cultural identities, personal histories, and artistic expressions evolve through connections across places, generations, and experiences. At the heart of the exhibit is the idea of connection — between past and present, tradition and transformation, individual memory and collective history, and Eastern and Western cultural references.
Each artist approaches these relationships through a distinct visual language, drawing on cultural heritage, everyday life, personal experiences, and psychological responses in a changing globalized world.
Connecting Threads 이어지는 실 will remain on view through December 5.
Sarah Spurgeon Gallery is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturdays from 1-5 p.m. The gallery is closed on Sundays and will be closed November 11 and November 25-29 for University holidays.
