The Central Washington University Chamber Choir is preparing for one of its biggest concerts of the year on Friday, December 5, at Ellensburg United Methodist Church.
The annual candlelight concert, “Woven In Light,” is scheduled for 7 p.m., and members of the CWU and Ellensburg communities are invited to attend.
General admission tickets are available for $20 each on the Wildcat Tickets website. Limited seating is available, and those interested in attending are encouraged to reserve their place as soon as possible since the event typically sells out.
Professor Dr. Nicole Lamartine will lead the CWU Chamber Choir’s performance at the annual candlelight concert, which will feature ancient hymns and contemporary works. Lamartine explains that the program traces the ways light intertwines with sound, spirit, and community.
“In a world often frayed by noise and division, we gather by candlelight to listen, to breathe, and to be woven together through song,” she says. “’Woven in Light’ invites us into a space of stillness and shared humanity, where each voice becomes a luminous thread in the larger fabric of peace.”
As the glow of each candle joins another, the music reminds the audience that peace is not a solitary flame but a tapestry — one that glimmers more brightly when our voices, our hearts, and our hopes are intertwined.
The CWU Chamber Choir creates a mesmerizing experience for the audience through a continuous collage program that is interwoven with prose, improvisation, chamber groups, and solos. Moments of familiar music add to the allure, providing elements of surprise and connection for the audience.
The evening will conclude with candlelight illuminating the church as everyone sings “Silent Night.”
Tim Ribner from Portland, Oregon is the featured collaborator, and guitarist Jeff Selden will accompany the choir throughout the performance.
