Members of the CWU community, past and present, are invited to attend a going-away celebration for emeritus administrator and faculty member Dr. Jim Pappas this weekend.
The longtime Ellensburg resident and one-time interim university president recently moved to Bellevue, and he would appreciate seeing his old friends and colleagues at the sendoff Sunday, September 22, from 5-7 p.m. at Whipsaw Brewery, 704 N. Wenas St. in Ellensburg.
Jim joined the Wildcat family in 1980 as the Dean of Admissions and Records, remaining in that role for 11 years before becoming the Dean of Academic Services from 1992-98. He served as Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing from 1998-2000 and was the interim VP for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management from 2000-01. He also served as a CWU professor of educational administration from 1982-2013.
Jim retired from CWU as graduate faculty member in 2013. For 12 years, he served as chair of Educational Administration theses and graduate projects and was a member of many graduate oral thesis committees.
In addition to his CWU service, Jim has served as president of the Clymer Museum Board of Directors since 2007 and served on the KVH Foundation board since 1991. He has also been involved in leadership with the Kittitas County Hospital Foundation, Hope Source, Gallery One, the March of Dimes, the CWU Foundation, and other community organizations.
Those who worked with Jim or knew him over the years are encouraged to drop by Whipsaw Brewery on Sunday evening. There will also be a 50/50 fundraiser, so bring a few bucks to chip in.
