Hundreds of students compete in FIRST Lego League at CWU

The FIRST Lego League state robotics championships drew hundreds of students from throughout the state and British Columbia to Central Washington University on Saturday.

The theme of this year's competition was "Nature's fury: Prepare, be safe, rebuild." The teams used Lego Mindstorms technology and were judged on the performance of their robots as they went through a tabletop challenge, according to a news release. They also were judged on presentation of research and recommendations for communities affected by natural disasters. Fifty-five teams made up of students 9-14 competed in the event.
