Assistant Professor, Director of Japanese program

Junyuan Chen is the Assistant Professor in Japanese and coordinates the Japanese program. She received her Ph.D. degree from the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Arizona. She also holds a Master's degree in Japanese linguistics from Kyushu University in Japan and a Bachelor's degree in Japanese Language and Culture from Zhejiang University in China. Her current research interests encompass Japanese sociolinguistics and teaching Japanese as a foreign language (JFL), with a special focus on the exploration of Japanese language teacher identities and teacher education.
