Doctora (Dra) Torres García is an Assistant Professor and Director of Latino & Latin American Studies Program at CWU (EL Centro). Dra. Torres García joins CWU from Eastern Washington University, where she served as Trio McNair Program Director for the past ten years, and taught courses in Chicana/Latina Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Cultural Studies, Critical Race Studies, and Education. Dra. Torres Garcia holds a Ph.D. from WSU in Cultural Studies & Social Thought within Education. Her research focus lies at the intersections of social justice, Chicana feminist epistemologies, and critical race studies. Dra. Torres García's many accomplishments showcase her tremendous experience as an administrator and educator, alongside her outstanding advocacy and dedication to the values of equity and inclusion, and Latinx student success. Dra. Torres García has mentored several students through their journey of pursuing their PhDs. She has also advocated for dismantling systemic obstacles in academia.
