I joined the Department of Sociology at CWU in September 2007.  Since then, I have taught the following classes:  Principles of Sociology, Social Problems, American Society, Globalization, Social Change, Social Conflict, Social Theory, Political Sociology, Urban Sociology, and Social Inequality both online and in the classroom.

I received my Master's and PhD in Sociology from the New School for Social Research in New York City.  My major fields of study are historical sociology and political sociology. My research interests focus mainly on ethnic and nationalist conflict and democratization in newly formed states or countries transitioning away from authoritarian regimes.  on conflict and conflict resolution with specific interest in nationalist and ethnic conflict and democracy as a form of conflict resolution. I am currently working on two projects that explores women’s roles in democracy post-conflict and the relationship between nationalism and democracy.
