Portrait of Claudia Wright

My research interests in migration, motherhood, gender, education, and consumer culture are informed by my experiences in academia and the private industry. As a qualitative researcher I have worked with various rural, urban, and minority communities who have expanded my interest in understanding the ideologies and social constructions that permeate our beliefs and practices.

My current research explores migrant motherhood. I am interested in understanding how intersectional identities shape migration trajectories. Other areas of interest include gender gap in higher education, fatherhood, consumption, and healthcare.

Some of the courses that I teach at CW are: Principles of Sociology, Sociology of Gender, Sociology of Immigration, and Sociology of Family.
