Deanna Marshall
Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pathways Program Manager
Deanna Marshall is the Program Manager for the Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pathways (NESSP) program at Central Washington University. In this role, she oversees recruitment, registration, educator support, and event planning for the NESSP National Student Challenge and summer Mini-Missions. She also led the development of residential STEM academies for high school students on CWU’s campus.
Deanna has served as the Zone Councilor for Zone 17 of the Society of Physics Students (SPS), supporting student chapters across the region.
Before joining NESSP, Deanna was the advisor and recruiter for CWU’s Physics Department from 2015 to 2022. As the main point of contact for academic and career advising from pre-college through undergraduate levels, she helped countless students pursue degrees in physics, engineering, and astronomy. Her outreach efforts took her across Washington state, where she engaged with K–16 students to support their academic and career goals.
Deanna enjoys event planning, organizing activities, and analyzing data. She has been part of NESSP since its early days and is proud of its continued growth and impact. In her spare time, she enjoys dropping pumpkins off the roof of Discovery Hall—because physics!
She is currently pursuing an M.S. in Data Analytics at CWU. She also completed a graduate program in Information Systems at Johns Hopkins University in 2000 and earned her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University in 1985.
