Aaron Burr

Lecturer

A native of northern Arizona, saxophonist and educator Aaron Burr is an advocate for student
achievement and new music. While in Dallas, Texas, Dr. Burr maintained a thriving private
studio where his saxophone, clarinet, and jazz students excelled at the regional and state levels.
Additionally, he has given guest recitals and masterclasses throughout the United States and has
had the opportunity to perform most recently with Plano Symphony Orchestra, San Angelo
Symphony Orchestra, Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, and the New Texas Symphony Orchestra.
Recently, he has led consortiums for new pieces for tenor saxophone and fixed media. Mr. Burr
is also a member of Duo Velox, along with clarinetist Kaitlyn Neufeld. Duo Velox actively
commissions and premieres new works, the latest premiere being Vicissitudes by Takuma Itoh at
the International Duo Symposium. Dr. Burr is currently the Lecturer of Saxophone at Central
Washington University where he teaches applied saxophone lessons, chamber music, and jazz
band.

Aaron holds a Doctor of Arts in Saxophone Performance from the University of Northern
Colorado where he served as the graduate teaching assistant, and as instructor of record for
applied saxophone lessons and saxophone quartet. Additionally, Aaron restarted and conducted
the UNCo Saxophone Ensemble in fall of 2021. He holds a Master of Music in Saxophone
Performance from The University of New Mexico and earned a Bachelor of Music Performance
from Northern Arizona University. Aaron is a Dahlke Mouthpiece performing artist.
