About Rune Torgersen
Central Today and press release feature writing, media outreach, story prospecting, editorial support.
Professional Overview:
I graduated from CWU with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2019, and spent time with every on-campus student media outlet along the way. Since then, I’ve worked in radio promotions, customer service, hospitality, and social media, but ultimately found myself back in Ellensburg, telling the stories of my fellow Wildcats.
Professional Experience:
Outline your professional experience, including academic appointments, administrative roles, and any relevant industry experience.
I’ve held leadership roles with 88.1 The Burg, The Observer, PULSE Magazine, Central NewsWatch, and Hubbard Radio Seattle’s street marketing team. Since joining CWU in a professional capacity, I’ve served on the Strategic Plan Accountability Team and the Student Media Board, and participated in a variety of efforts to modernize and streamline our brand messaging platform.
Diversity and Inclusivity:
Share any efforts or initiatives you have been involved in to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within your academic or professional community.
I’ve been fortunate to get to write about our school’s many efforts to promote equity and belonging both on and off campus. I’m always looking for opportunities to highlight this essential work.
Personal Touch:
“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” – Terry Pratchett
