Background:
I started teaching classes while attending CWU as an undergraduate, then graduate student and now as a professional, I have been at CWU for 20 years. My education and interests are focused on wellness and health promotion. I have been the Online Interdisciplinary Studies – Social Sciences Program Director and Lecturer since 2012. My other positions at CWU include fitness instructor, health educator, and academic advisor. I currently teach IDS 405: Project Funding, with a focus on grant writing, IDS 321: Body Image, Wellness and Popular Culture and IDS 305: Surviving to Thriving: Resiliency.
I have been told that my courses tend to encourage students to engage with the material, not just regurgitate it. I sincerely seek to develop students who think for themselves, can write intelligently, are inquisitive and have an intrinsic desire to create, learn and improve.
My down time is spent with my two very active boys, ages 8 and 13. You can usually find us on a mountain, either skiing/snowboarding or mountain biking.
