Karen Roemer

Get to know our Faculty and Staff

Karen Roemer received her PhD in Sports Science from the Chemnitz University of Technology in Germany. Her area of expertise is biomechanical modeling and human movement analysis. In Germany she worked as a biomechanist in the Olympic Training Center in Saarbruecken. Afterwards she became a research fellow at the Institute of Mechatronics in Chemnitz and a lecturer at the Chemnitz University of Technology. In 2004 she finished her PhD thesis on musculoskeletal modeling. In 2008 she moved to the USA and is now a full professor for biomechanics at Central Washington University in the Department of Health Sciences. Dr. Roemer teaches various classes in biomechanics and statistics. Her current research interests include balance and stability, high performance sports (javelin) and signal processing.
