Carlo Smith
Associate Professor
Dr. Carlo Smith has been involved in supply chain related activities since enrolling for a coure in Business Logistics at Penn State University, (PSU) in 1980. He graduated from PSU with a degree in Business Logistics in 1983 after a year in industry, and he returned to PSU and completed an MBA, focused on Business Logistics in 1986.
His industry experience includes roles in operations with United Van Lines, materials management with Baxter Travenol, supply chain consultng with MAS Associates and CSC Federal System, inventory management software and consulting with E3 Associates, and inventory management leaderships with West Marine Products. He completed his Ph.D., majoring in logistics management at the University of Tennessee, (UT) where his research focused on supply chain management and forecasting management.
His role as higher education faculty began in 2000 when he joined the University of San Diego (USD). Subsequenlty he moved to Missouri State University, (MSU) in 2006 and to Central Washington University, (CWU) in 2009. At CWU He's held positions as Director of the Supply Chain Management Institute and Chair of the Department of Finance & Supply Chain Management.
Supply Chain Management has been a consistent focus and source of inspiration and joy throughout his career. He encourages students to view its study and practice as a great opportunity for a challenging and rewarding career.
