Biography:

Dr. Davi Vitela is the Child Life Program Coordinator and a full-time lecturer in Child Development and Family Science.  She joined the department after spending six years as a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) on the pediatric palliative care team at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT, where she supported children and adolescents facing serious illnesses.

Before becoming a CCLS, Dr. Davi spent two years teaching at a preschool in the Colorado mountains and, even earlier in her career, she pursued an academic path and received her PhD from the University of Arizona, where she discovered a love for teaching at the college level.  She is excited to now combine both of her passions: teaching and child life.

Outside of work, Dr. Davi is on the hunt for new hobbies and is open to suggestions!  Until then, she will be spending her free time snuggling on the couch with her dog Mizzy, who thinks this is the only hobby needed.
