Cole Provence

Lecturer

Cole Provence received a B.S. degree in Zoology from Weber State University and minored in Botany and Anthropology. He then attended Michigan State University where he obtained a M.S. degree in Fisheries and Wildlife with a focus on water chemistry. While attending MSU, Cole developed an interest in learning how to brew beer, and briefly interned at Michigan Brewing Company until he graduated in 2008. In 2011, Cole worked for the USDA Agricultural Research Service in Corvallis for Dr.’s Walt Mahaffee and Dave Gent where he conducted research on plant diseases and physiology of wine grapes and hops. Before getting hired at CWU, Cole was the Technical Manager at Yakima Chief- Hopunion where he developed the new hop farm QA/ QC program used throughout the industry, and is still used today. Cole has also worked at Rogue Brewery in Newport, Oregon and at Archery Summit winery in Dundee, Oregon; and is a member of the Master Brewers Association and American Homebrewers Association.
