Yiye (Stella) Xu

Yiye (Stella) Xu is an Assistant Professor of Construction Management in the Department of Engineering Technologies, Safety, and Construction at Central Washington University (CWU). Her research focuses on improving construction occupational safety and health through the development of technology-integrated solutions that leverage artificial intelligence (AI), uncrewed aerial systems (UAS), computer vision, and data-driven analytics. Her work seeks to translate emerging technologies into practical tools that enhance hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety decision-making while improving workforce well-being and construction operations. She is also interested in applying these technologies to support a more sustainable and resilient built environment. 

At CWU, Stella teaches undergraduate courses across the Construction Management (CMGT) curriculum and is committed to creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences. She enjoys integrating emerging technologies into the classroom and providing students with opportunities to participate in applied research that bridges academic knowledge and industry practice.
