Administrative and Teaching Experiences

Education Program Director, CWU-Lynnwood, Winter 2011 – June 2014

My administrative duties included reading all the applications and interviewing the candidates
prior to accepting them into the CWU teacher training programs, planning the sequence of
courses for three different cohorts, finding qualified instructors for the courses that we could not
staff, advising, resolving disputes between the instructors and the teacher candidates, working
with dean to resolve student complaints regarding their instructors, promoting our education
programs by visiting other colleges in our area and recruiting their students for the CWU
education programs, holding several open houses throughout the year to explain our programs to
potential teacher candidates, being part of the committee to recruit a new site director for CWU-Lynnwood, working closely with our staff to resolve potential issues related to graduation
requirements and other matters, attending local and campus meetings to represent CWU in
initiatives that impacted our programs, supporting the math and science programs at CWU-Lynnwood, welcoming new instructors and ensuring their classrooms were ready for their
teaching, working with our field supervisors to deal with the teacher candidates who had failed
their student teaching. Working with our certification officer to ensure our compliance with the
legal requirements, collaborating with a local school that wanted our student teachers, working
with our librarian to order new resources for our students, collaborating with the site director and
our staff to come up with effective ways to promote CWU education programs on the campus of
Edmonds College, and being the point person for answering questions about our programs.
