Hye-ri Oh
Lecturer
Hye-ri Oh holds a BA from Ewha Women's University in Korea, an MA in Modern Art and Theory from the University of Essex in the United Kingdom, and a Ph.D. in art history from the State University of New York at Binghamton. Her research interests encompass global modern and contemporary art history and theory, as well as the histories of art, photography, and visual culture in East Asia.
She maintains robust research agendas and disseminates her findings at prestigious academic conferences, including the College Art Association (CAA), the Association for Asian Studies (AAS), the Interdisciplinary Nineteenth-Century Studies (INCS), and the Society of Korean Photography (SKP), as well as various international academic venues and institutions.
Her research works have been published internationally. Her recent publications on the history of East Asian photography, as well as modern and contemporary art, have been featured in several peer-reviewed journals, including History of Photography and Trans Asia Photography (Duke University Press), along with the Journal of Korean and Asian Arts and Aura (The Society of Korean Photography). Additionally, her articles have appeared in edited volumes published by Routledge and the University of Hawaii Press. Furthermore, her contributions to the art historical encyclopedia on Korean photography are included in Grove Art Online (USA), the Italian Encyclopedia Treccani on World Modern and Contemporary Art History (Italy), and the Encyclopedia of Korean Culture (Korea).
