About Dr. Shangyue Zhu

Dr. Zhu earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Notre Dame (2018–2023) and holds both an M.S. (2015–2017) and a B.S. (2012–2014) in Computer Science from Ball State University. Additionally, he received a B.S. in Computer Science from Xi'An University of Post and Telecommunication in China (2011–2015).


Before joining CWU, Dr. Zhu gained industry experience working in short video research at AT&T and as a machine learning engineer at Figure 8. His diverse academic and professional background informs his research and teaching, with a focus on cutting-edge developments in computer science and machine learning. His research interests include Activity Recognition, Data Science, Short Videos, and Machine Learning.
