Biography
Dr. Lee is an associate professor of Communication and the department chair. She earned her PhD at Bowling Green State University. Her scholarship lies at the intersection of rhetorical studies and critical intercultural communication. Her research interests include the rhetoricity of place and space, cultural representations on media and in popular culture, politics in globalization, and critical pedagogy. Her publications can be found in Communication Studies, Whiteness and Education, Women’s Studies in Communication, and a variety of academic books. In classroom, critical pedagogical thoughts drive Dr. Lee's teaching. As an educator, she strives to create a learning environment that encourages critical thinking. She is an active member of the National Communication Association (NCA) and Central States Communication Association (CSCA). She served on the executive board of International and Intercultural Communication Division (IICD) of NCA and was chair of Intercultural Communication Interest group of CSCA. Dr. Lee is the recipient of the Outstanding Dissertation Award (International and Intercultural Communication Division of NCA, 2016) for her doctoral dissertation titled “The rhetorical landscape of Itaewon: Negotiating new transcultural identities in South Korea.”Contact
