Josue Stoutamyer

Academic Advisor

I started my academic journey at CWU in 2015, pursuing a path in English as my undergrad. I graduated in the summer of 2018 with my BA, and that fall I continued into my grad studies in TESOL and Linguistics as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, which I then graduated with my MA in 2020 – bad timing, I know. During my grad studies I worked as a lecturer for Eng 101, and after a brief gap I would return to work for the university as a Cashier in Student Accounts. Now I’m bringing that blend of experiences to IT Management as an Academic Advisor!

What do you look forward to achieving with advising students?

My goal as IT Management's Bachelor of Science Academic Advisor is to demystify both Gen Ed and Major requirements so that students can have the smoothest possible path to graduation. In doing so I hope to do my part in raising our retention rate as well as our completion rate.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I’m your standard nerd. I like video games and ttrpgs, and I’ve been a forever DM for D&D campaigns for many years – by choice, I should add. I also enjoy woodworking, leathercrafting, and various other artforms.
