Professor Sundaram Nataraja (aka Dr. Raj) is a global academician with more than three decades of work experience. He has an accomplished record of teaching, research, scholarship, and services. He served as the Chair of the Department of Aviation at CWU from fall 2015 to summer 2018. Subsequently, he is a teaching faculty member in the Aviation Management discipline. He taught the following courses in the past 10 years:

· AVM 350: Aviation Career Planning & Professionalism

· AVM 426: International Aviation Management

He has a total of 39 years of work experience which encompasses 16 years of working in the aviation industry including employment with Emirates Airlines (for 6 years), Saudi Arabian Airlines (5 years), Singapore Airlines (2 years), and United Airlines (3 years).

He earned educational qualifications from University of Madras, India; the University of Oxford, UK; and in the United States from Daytona State College in Florida, University of Central Missouri, and University of South Dakota. He has earned postgraduate certificates from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in the areas of Passenger and Cargo Operations. He studied professional development courses at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to learn about Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (sUAV/Drones). He obtained the Remote Pilot Certificate (FAA Part 107) in 2018 to operate Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
